Literalism
For a long time I couldn't think of a figure of speech to use as the basis for my project, but eventually my friend Andy came up with "cat got your tongue". Immediately I recognized the potential for hilarity. The vision of a wide-eyed person with a kitten dangling precariously from their tongue popped into my head immediately, all I had to do was find the right pictures to make it a reality. I thought about using pictures of my own cats, but they were not willing to pose despite hours of attempting to coax them into a dangling position (and lots of kitty treats). So I found another picture of an adorable kitten. I used some techniques I learned in the "Worth A Thousand" assignment last semester to make the background of colorful question marks. And I also used the "liquefy" feature for the first time since I played around with it in web design freshman year. I'm not sure it's the best photoshop tool, but it was the only way I could figure out to extend the tongue the way I needed to.
